Social Marketing Lead, Kenya
ACDI/VOCA is seeking a Social Marketing Lead for an upcoming nutrition-focused activity in Kenya funded by USAID. This role will oversee the project’s activities that aim to increase consumer demand for nutritious foods through private sector actors.
The Social Marketing Lead will lead the development of the activity’s consumer demand activities to drive the purchasing of nutritious foods, using social marketing techniques.
Develop and lead the Activity’s consumer demand generation strategy, incorporating USAID and private sector social marketing approaches, to strengthen consumer demand for safe, nutritious foods by working through private sector food systems actors to generate demand.
Oversee formative research efforts to inform the consumer demand generation strategy, including but not limited to consumer factor analyses, barrier analysis, market segmentation, identification of existing messaging materials, identifying priority and influencing groups, etc.
Provide guidance and support to project staff on how to implement consumer demand and social marketing strategies.
Work with the project monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) team to put in place effective monitoring and evaluation indicators to evaluate the effectiveness of consumer demand activities in affecting consumer behaviors
Develop gender-sensitive messaging and training materials for project activities.
Generate learning on successes and challenges in private-sector led demand generation activities, including social marketing approaches
Bachelor’s degree in food science, marketing, communication, public relations, or relevant field is required; master’s degree is desired.
Minimum 8 years of progressively responsible experience working in the food sector in communication, marketing and brand development, customer growth, social and behavior change, or related roles.
Demonstrated experience designing program activities or brand and marketing strategies to drive consumer demand for target foods.
Excellent written communication skills required, with a demonstrated ability to write reports in a clear, concise manner.
Fluency in English is required.
