ACDI/VOCA is currently seeking a Freshwater Prawn Expert for an upcoming consulting assignment in Uzbekistan. A local partner has asked the Agribusiness Development Activity for support in expanding into Freshwater Prawn. The local partner has 20 hectars of articial ponds where carp fish are commercially grown and now plan to introduce the freshwater prawn production to his business. The company has constructed an indoor facility to set up a prawn hatchery and brood stock maintenance. Additionally, the partner has already imported brood stock prawn and are hatching the prawns on a trial basis. To support this expansion effort, the Agribusiness Development Activity wants the selected expert to conduct a feasibility study on commercial freshwater prawn breeding in Uzbekistan. 

1. In depth assessment and evaluation of the partner’s capacity, resources, and existing infrastructure to commercially breed and grow out the freshwater prawn
   1. Water Source quality and quantity
   2. Equipment/instrumentation
   3. Health/Sanitation
   4. Weather conditions
   5. General feed/nutrition assessment (Domestic and Imported)
   6. Human capital capacity
2. The consultant will carry out on-site technical consultations to the project partner boosting the farm’s capacities to support the following stages of Macrobrachium rosenbergii semi-intensive/RAS farming:
   1. Brood stock/Berried females management
   2. Larval Rearing
   3. Nursery
   4. Grow out
3. Based on the findings of the assessment, provide a comprehensive business and operational plan to establish a successful and sustainable complete cycle freshwater prawn production farm operations in Uzbekistan.
4. Based on assessment and evaluation, the consultant will compile report describing the current infrastructure and recommendations on the opportunities to breed freshwater prawns in Uzbekistan, particularly in the Tashkent region.

• A University degree in Aquaculture, Fisheries or another relevant area.
• At least ten years of experience working with Freshwater Prawns or Malaysian Tiger Prawns.
• Experience conducting feasibility studies. 
• Good communication skills (oral and written) in English.
• Previous experience in Uzbekistan required.
• Proficient computer skills including MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
