    ISO 22000 Certification Auditor, Afghanistan

    ACDI/VOCA is seeking an ISO 22000 Certification Auditor for the Afghanistan Value Chains – High Value Crops (AVC-HVC) project. The USAID-funded AVC-HVC project will work with anchor firms nationwide to reverse market failures, strengthen backward and forward linkages, drive growth, and create jobs for men, women, and youth along the fruit and nuts, high-value horticulture, spices, and medicinal crops value chains. The project will contribute positive and measurable impacts to the sectors and will ensure that local market actors are involved at every stage of the value chain.

    The 22000 Certification Auditor will work with approximately 10 anchor firms that require assistance in obtaining certification for the ISO 22000 standards with export in mind. The assignment will have two phases, with AVC-HVC supporting firms in between phases to support them in making improvements needed to attain ISO 22000 certification. The objective of the first phase is to identify each firm’s needs to obtain ISO 22000 certification and provide guidance to help firms make improvements needed to attain ISO 22000 certification. The objective of the second phase is to evaluate each firm’s compliance with ISO 22000.


    • Develop training materials (presentation, modules, etc.) in ISO 22000 certification methodology
    • Develop work plans to work with firms on ISO 22000 certification requirements
    • Develop prerequisite program templates for use by anchor firms in the development of their ISO management systems
    • Deliver presentation on the requirements of ISO 22000 certification requirements to selected firms
    • Perform initial gap analysis audits for each firm to the ISO 22000 standards
    • Develop a roadmap for each firm to be certified for ISO 22000 after primary audit, identifying needed improvements
    • Report on primary audit findings and roadmap/needed improvements to AVC-HVC and the firms
    • Perform and report on second audit to assess progress and preparedness for ISO certification
    • Draft trip report with observations, feedback on training, and recommendations for follow up by AVC-HVC team
    • Mentor at least one staff from each firm to achieve certification of ISO 22000 for the purpose of training and system maintenance
    • Other duties and deliverables as required by the SOW to carry out the assignment


    • Relevant university degree and valid ISO 22000 auditor license
    • Experience with developing recommendations with firm to achieve ISO 22000 certification
    • Experience training firms and others on ISO 22000 certification
    • Willingness to travel to and within Afghanistan
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
