    Finance & Administration Associate

    We are seeking a Finance & Administration Associate for the USAID-funded Afghanistan Value Chain (AVC) – High Value Crops (HVC) Project. This Project will work with anchor firms nationwide to reverse market failures, strengthen backward and forward linkages, drive growth, and create jobs for men, women, and youth along, while supporting the rapid growth of the fruit and nuts, high-value horticulture, spices, and medicinal crops value chains. The Project will contribute positive and measurable impacts to the sectors and will increase the efficiency of market actors involved at every stage of the value chain.

     

    The Associate will process financial documents, assist in maintaining financial records and reporting. Additionally, the Associate will help strengthen financial controls and systems to ensure greater operational efficiency and effectiveness as well as assist in day-to-day administrative issues responding to any related requests from all ACDI/VOCA departments.

    Responsibilities

    • Records transactions in QuickBooks daily.
    • Ensures correct and timely payments to vendors and service providers. 
    • Maintains banking relationship to include preparing bank deposits and correspondence. 
    • Prepares monthly reconciliations of bank account.
    • Prepares vouchers and checks/wire transfers for payments. Ensures all supporting documentation and journal entries are accurate.
    • Ensures all payments are allowable, allocable and in compliance with USG, local government, donor and ACDI/VOCA regulations
    • Creates and maintains an audit ready, well-organized filing system for financial reports and accounting documents.
    • Maintains proper internal controls over the receipts, disbursements, and management of all financial resources.
    • Provides assistance and coordination during periodic financial audits.
    • Arranges travel schedules, arrangements, and reservations. 
    • Compiles and prepares statistical reports. Assists in collating information from the team and preparing it for reporting and evaluations. 
    • Assists in maintaining regular scheduled communications with staff.
    • Performs other duties and undertakes other projects as may be assigned from time to time.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting/ Coursework toward ACCA or other recognized professional qualification preferred. USAID experience preferred (22 CFR part 226; OMB Circular A-122 & A-33; Sub grant Management)
    • Minimum of three years of related experience, preferably with USAID funded programs.
    • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Demonstrated strong knowledge of standard accounting practices (GAAP) and basic financial management.
    • Good knowledge of applicable related rules and regulations as set out by the country and donor.
    • Working knowledge of an accounting package such as Quickbooks.
    • Good analytical skills, including ability to gather and analyze information and develop appropriate recommendations for action.
    • Proven ability to effectively use databases, spreadsheet, word processing, and position-specific software.
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and in a team environment, in an atmosphere of multiple projects, shifting priorities, and deadline pressures.
    • Ability to speak and write fluently in English.
